ICAI

ABOUT PROJECT

An initiative of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI), the CMA Bhawan at Vytilla, Ernakulam, is a two storey building on 28.247 cents of land. The key idea while structuring this building was a single element of conception that would stand the test of time. An exposed- brick façade was chosen in cognizance with the purpose which the institution portrays, reiterating the purpose of moulding the character of the younger generation. As a symbol of protection, framed pergolas are used in the façade. The façade is also composed of large linear elements, signifying discipline and stability of character. In resonance with climatic aspects, the building is oriented in cardinal directions with the façade facing towards the east. A central courtyard has been created which serves as the major element of focus and emphasis as well as a transition space. On the whole, this architectural project becomes an educational object in itself, in a bid to provide future generations with a healthy living and learning environment.
