Ginger County

The key concept of this Villa project is “From the site”. The site is a hilly terrain having different levels and the design was developed in resonance with the natural contour of the site. The colour employed in the façade is all in adherence to the natural colour observed in the rocky laterite. The central risen land in the site is used as a buffer zone which acts as the main focus of the site. It houses the entrance, club house, swimming pool and is the recreation zone. Each villa has a simple, minimalistic cubic form derived from the stepped topography of the site. The brown jalli work in the façade provides a picture frame identity for each Villa. Lush typical landscaping is devised in this villa project. This is mainly employed in defining the boundaries of each villa along with a low wall. The surface drain, soil and sewage waste collection is directed to the lower pocket of land where a centralized STP is located. The fresh water supply to each villa is from a centralized sump tank with a pneumatic pump.

Kofi Land

This project, realised on a valley site in Thekkady, follows a green architecture design. Inclusion of the greenery and natural water bodies that surround the location serves as the focus of the design. The plan to keep the existing land profile undisturbed is devised by tilting up the administrative block, service block and the restaurant. Plenty of locally available natural materials went into the construction. Fixtures like gates and hand rims are made of coffee plant wood, while choola is used for attic openings. Utilisation of natural materials discarding synthetic substitutes helps the project highlight the ecofriendly concepts in the design.

Residence of Dr. Jose Mathew

The design of this 4000 sq ft residential building caters from the client’s requirement to have a house that stays uninfluenced by the varying climatic conditions.A plan was conceived such that the interior spaces get ample sunlight, without heating up the building. The roof over the top floor is pitched to act as an attic buffer and abate hot and humid temperatures. To enhance natural cooling, air gaps are provided between the roof and the roof slab.
To shade the ground floor against direct exposure to the sun and to augment visual interest, a pergola has been erected with creepers trailing over it. The profusion of natural light, the lay of the rooms, etc. speak for our belief in designing meaningful structures that offer both functional utility and aesthetic superiority.
Brick tiles are used for the façade to give natural insulation to the building. The earthy combination of brick tiles and the grey pitched roof, lend colour, character and longevity to the structure.
